Hey there, Wednesday crowd, how is it going?
Somehow I’m always working with 25% of my usual productivity when I’m approaching a book’s ending. Is it just me? Anyway, I’m currently at nearly 146k of my WIP, still at the last chapter. Maybe because I know that after I put the end I say goodbye to these characters and their world… at least for the time being.
It’s bittersweet.
This week I also have a sort of anniversary, it’s been three years since I got the idea of that series while I was traveling at the back of a car for nearly four hours. Time flies so fast.
Unorthodox Union is the final installment of the Unorthodox Trilogy and should come out in the Fall of 2018. Book 1 – Unorthodox Therapy and 2 – Unorthodox Chemistry are available on Amazon.
(Don’t judge the book by its cover, this one is temporary.)
THOMAS
“Hey, do you have a minute?”
Lina was peeking through the main office door and looking around to make sure the terrain was clear. Ever since I went back to work people grew to accept our relationship. So far nobody has been giving me shit for dating the boss and living with her. Still, we were careful with the public displays of affection and would only kiss if we were sure there was no one else.
Everyone was out for their lunch break. They invited me to join them but I had no appetite and decided to work instead.
Even if there was anyone at the office I’d just ignore them and kiss her anyway. Lately, I grew to care less and less about what someone else would think. These moments when we could steal some time for each other were a rare bliss and a moment of happiness. We needed more of that in the turmoil that’s been going on with Seth’s phantom presence.
I looked up at her with a smile. Her raspy voice was always a music to my ears but especially today. My attention span was awful and I messed up the code I’ve been working on more times than I cared to admit. Allie’s absence didn’t make things any better. She’d usually find some way to help me stay focused.
My girlfriend would most likely have the opposite effect but don’t we all need a little creative distraction.
“I always have a minute for you, gorgeous.” I smiled and got up from the chair. Lina stepped in the office and rushed to hug me. She looked her usual beautiful self even if her eyes were showing signs of tiredness. Her hair was falling down her shoulders in smooth waves and when I leaned in to kiss her the scent of strawberry shampoo filled my nostrils.
“I have to be on my way soon but I just wanted you to know where I’m going.” Lina wrapped her arms around me and stared at me with a little worry. “How are things here? Where’s everyone?”
“The rest of the guys went to grab a bite.” I shrugged and kissed down her chin and neck. “You know, I’ve been missing you these days.”
Lina laughed and let out a small moan once I nibbled the sensitive skin behind her ear. She arched her head back and ran her nails down my shoulders. Having sex with her in here wasn’t an option but the afternoon would be much sweeter with her fragrance on my lips.
“Thomas, we live together and last time I saw you it was three or four hours ago.” Her sexy voice was making me forget I was at work, that I had a project to go back to. All my desires came down to at that moment were to lock the door and fuck her the whole day. On every desk, against the wall… and then we’d lie down on the couch cuddling and enjoying our intimacy without any shadows between us.
If only.
“True.” I sighed, kissed her softly on the lips and pressed my forehead against hers. “But you know what I mean. Sometimes all I want is a place to hide with you.”
Her smile was soaked with sadness. Lina laid her delicate palms over my cheeks and rubbed them with smooth, massaging moves.
“There probably is… but we still have to hide and at some point, even that won’t be an option.” She whispered against my lips.
“I know. It’s still a nice thought that gets me through the day.” I said and rested fingers on top of hers.

Very nicely done.
Can’t say I have the same ‘end of script’ feelings, but it’s been a while since I finished anything. I’ve been super-slack this summer with everything else. *sigh* Thanks for teasing again! Great excerpt
Great tease! I slow down at the end of each story, too. I angst about getting the story threads tied up and then leaving just enough open in case I want to go back and give the characters another story.
Love the tease! Well done, pulled me into the story nicely 🙂
